Welcome to team Razorbill – Year 4

The staff in our class are:

  • Mrs Chapman– TA

School times are:

Full days: 8:50 am until 3:20 pm.

During the week we have the following activities:

  • PE on a Tuesday morning and Friday afternoon (Please remember to come to school in your PE kit)
  • Daily Maths and Writing lessons
  • Times tables rockstars and numbergym
  • Daily guided or whole class reading lesions
  • Weekly spelling and handwriting lessons
  • Creative curriculum – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
  • Music lessons on a Monday
  • Daily circle time for children to share their feelings.

Reading – Children take part in daily fluency reading as well as accessing whole class reading or guided reading sessions every day. We usually read together as a class as well as giving the children time to listen to others read, question and be questioned about what they have read and how the author has written in a certain way.

How can you support your child’s learning?

Spellings –  Spelling lists will be handed out each half term, these will be retested at the start of the next half termPlease help your child to practise and extend their learning by practising these.

Reading at Home – Hearing your child reading every day will have a huge impact on all areas of their learning.  Reading is part of your child’s homework and they have a challenge to read at least four times a week. Can you please listen to your child read for at least 15 minutes every day and make a note in your reading journal. This doesn’t just have to be their reading book- they could read a recipe whilst cooking, read a newspaper or even read a story to a younger sibling. Please ensure reading records are returned to school everyday. This will help us ensure they are reading either at home or in school everyday on top of their guided reading sessions.
