Staff in our class are

During the week with have the following activities…

• PE on Wednesday and Thursday
• Daily phonics sessions
• Daily circle time to share our feelings and giving everyone a chance to talk.
• Celebration assembly on a Thursday and a KS1 assembly on a Friday
• Weekly spellings on a Thursday
• Chromebooks every Thursday afternoon

During other afternoons, we have creative curriculum activities, linking all subjects around our theme for the term.

Reading – Children take part in guided reading and reading activity session every day. We usually read together as a class as well as giving the children time to listen to others read, question and be questioned about what they have read and how the author has written in a certain way.

Home reading books are changed regularly. Reading is part of your child’s homework and they have a challenge to read at least five times a week. Please listen to your child read so that you can ask him/her comprehension questions and help them improve their understanding and fluency.  We would be grateful if you could then write a note in their planner to say they have read to you.

Homework – Homework is to read regularly at home, every night and to practice spellings every week. Sometimes, we will send home a Project linked to our Learning Challenge theme.

Spellings – Spellings will also be given out on a Thursday and tested the following Thursday.
